Within the next year, my wife Amy and I will be leaving the Hawaii islands. Where our next stop in the journey of life leads, we do not know. What we do know is that our time in Hawaii has been amazing! There have been many opportunities for growth, renewal, forgiveness, restoration of our souls from past hurts. Combined, we are forever grateful for the Lord, sending us to Hawaii.
Also, there have been some other unique experiences during our time in Hawaii. From a Ballistic Missile scare to COVID-19 impacts, seeing the Mauna Kea protests, to witnessing firsthand a tragic plane crash that took the lives of at least 11 people, we have seen some unique things. From these experiences, I want to begin sharing these events with you as we get ready to leave the Hawaiian islands.
My focus will not be only on the good or only on the negative, but a mixture of both. Either way, I hope to share with you at least one reflection a month over the next year. Reflections that no matter their outcome, they provided me with unique perspectives that changed my life. For example, my first reflection will focus on 21-June-2019 when I saw the charter plane crash that took the lives of at least 11 people.
This initial entry will be first because it is the first anniversary of the tragic event. Not only was I there firsthand, but the evening ended with a celebration that can only happen in Hawaii. A reminder that “all life is precious.”
As milestones continue, I will share other personal observations with the events related to those dates. From being at the first week of the Mauna Kea protests to doing a funeral on the day of the Ballistic Missile scare, my goal is to give you a first-person perspective. A perspective that reminds us that the events in Hawaii impacted people personally and were not just for off third person tragedies.
